From Tuesday, 1 July, sees the start of another season of Summer Nights at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. The exhibition MIRÓ: EARTH, the retrospective of the painter AVIGDOR ARIKHA and the exhibition on the German photographer FLORIAN MAIER-AICHEN will remain open until 11pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
Also during the months of July and August, the EL MIRADOR DEL MUSEO restaurant will be open, located on the top floor of the new wing with its spectacular views over the Paseo del Prado. This is a light, airy space in which to enjoy a splendid menu devised by the team from the Paradis group. This summer it is offering a new feature in the form of the “Miró: Tierra Menu” inspired by works on show in the exhibition devoted to the Catalan artist. Mallorcan Abstraction, Tilled Earth and Catalan Landscape are among the special dishes prepared by the chef of Paradis-Madrid for this occasion.
The gastronomic element of the summer nights at the Museum is completed with the opening until 1am of the CAFETERIA and its TERRACE in the entrance garden, which remains open for longer than usual. The same is true of the BOOKSHOP/GIFTSHOP and the special stand selling items inspired by works by Miró located at the exit of the exhibition. This will remain open until 11pm.
This year, and in relation to the exhibition Miró: Earth, a series of SHORT FILMS will be shown during July, from Thursdays to Saturdays at 8.30pm in the Museum’s Lecture Hall. These four shorts directed by Pere Portabella on the work of Miró complete the Museum’s summer programme. Pere Portabella himself will present the opening session, on Thursday 3 July at 7.30pm. Free entry until all seats filled.
