Monet and Abstraction to the Rhythm of Jazz

Monet and Abstraction to the Rhythm of Jazz

From 08 to 29 May 2010

The Museo Thyssen is welcoming in the spring with a fusion of two great art forms: music and painting. Every Saturday in May (except 1 May when the Museum is closed to the public) visitors can enjoy the exhibition Monet and Abstraction to the rhythm of jazz. On 15 and 22 May there will be ambient music in the rooms from 7pm to 11pm, with live concerts on 8 and 29 May.

The ambient music that will be relayed into the galleries is Portrait in Seven Shades by the saxophonist and composer Ted Nash with the Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra (2010), and Free Jazz (1960) by the saxophonist Ornette Coleman. In addition, the De Federico de Linos Quintet will be playing live at the entrance to the exhibition at 9pm and 10pm.

Video of concert

In conjunction with Museums Night, on Saturday 15 May entry to the temporary exhibition is free from 7pm onwards and the opening hours will be extended until 1am.
