Activities

Artist's workshop: Paths of the solstice.

Artist's workshop: Paths of the solstice.

From 27 June to 01 July 2011

Led by artist Miguel Ángel Blanco, this workshop is based on his own work entitled Library of the Forest, which he will use in a quest for pathways within the city that connect with nature during the evocative and symbolic period of the summer solstice. The route begins in the Museum’s galleries, where particular emphasis will be placed on examples of landscape painting in the Collection. It will continue in the area around the Paseo del Prado where living nature is to be encountered in the Botanical Gardens and the Retiro Park, and fossilised nature in the Museum of Natural Sciences, among the venues to be visited. Participants will then produce their own works in the EducaThyssen workshop under the artist’s supervision. This educational activity, organised in collaboration with the Fundación Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, is aimed at students and graduates of Fine Arts, History of Art, Philosophy, Architecture, Film Studies, Communication Sciences and interdisciplinary studies, as well as practicing artists. The workshop will consist of five sessions taking place between 27 June and 1 July. Enrolment opens on 20 April.
