Activities

Museum Nights

From 28 June to 25 September 2011

The exhibition Antonio López marks the start of the Museum’s summer opening hours, which this year will be extended for the entire period of the exhibition, from 28 June to 25 September. Also opening for longer will be the cafeteria and the El Mirador terrace-restaurant, which will be open for dinner until 1am and offers one of the finest views over Madrid.

In August and September there will also be late-night opening for two special displays from the Permanent Collection, both with free entry. Coinciding with World Youth Day, to be held in Madrid this year, on 2 August the Museum will be presenting Encounters, an interesting selection of paintings on Christ’s encounters during three periods of his life. In addition, on 9 September a new hanging will bring together in one gallery the five large-format paintings that comprise the series The blinding Exile by the Chilean artist Roberto Matta.

During the Summer months visitors can thus enjoy these three displays from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 11pm. Also the Museum (Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections and the temporary exhibitions) will open on Mondays 25 July, 15 August and 5, 12 and 19 September from 10am to 7pm in the same hours as on Sundays.
