On Paintings of Buildings and Cities (Accounts, Travels, Dreams Ruins and other Imaginary Places) is the title of the monographic course organised in conjunction with the exhibition Architectural Paintings, to be shown from 18 October in the Museum and at Fundación Caja Madrid. Once again this activity is organised in collaboration with the Complutense and Autónoma Universities of Madrid and is led by the exhibition’s two curators: Mar Borobia, Head of the Department of Old Master Paintings at the Museum, and Delfín Rodríguez, Senior Professor of Art History at the Complutense in Madrid. They will also be giving two of the scheduled classes, of which the rest will be given by other leading specialists who will focus on various aspects of the painting of buildings and cities from the Renaissance to the 18th century. The sessions will take place between 18 October 2011 and 22 January 2012 on Wednesday evenings in the Museum’s Auditorium. Enrolment opens on 3 October for Friends of the Museum and students of the Complutense and Autónoma Universities, and from 17 October for the general public.
