Caspar David Friedrich Easter Morning c. 1828-1835. Oil on canvas. 43.7 x 34.4 cm. Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid
In 2013 the Museum will be offering a new edition of the programme Friends’ Workshop, once again led by the illustrator Jorge Arranz. On this occasion it will continue throughout the year with a series of four workshops, one each season, devoted to the four seasons: winter (23 and 24 February), spring (25 and 26 May), summer (6 and 7 July) and autumn (19 and 20 October). Each workshop will take place over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) of four hours each. Participants will focus on nature at each time of the year. Plants and trees and parks and gardens, both real and painted, will be the guiding theme. During the first session Friends will draw works from the Collection in the Museum’s galleries while the second session will consist of drawing outdoors in the Botanical Gardens. Each workshop will give rise to a notebook of different works of art and plants according to the season of the year. This activity encourages participants to deploy an open approach free of technical constraints, with the aim of developing intuition, spontaneity and improvisation and within a relaxed rather than a critical context. It is therefore not necessary to have any drawing skills in order to enjoy these workshops. Enrolment opens on 5 February online in the link below and on tels: 91 127 82 22 and 902 760 511. Price: 100 Euros each workshop, 350 Euros for the four. Enrolment
