The Museum’s Education Department has organised a series of special activities during the week of International Women’s Day. On Monday 4 March from 12 noon to 2pm a group of women who regularly take part in the Thyssen’s educational programmes will discuss with visitors the depiction of women in art and their present-day reality through works such as The Birth of the Virgin (ca.1520) by Jan de Beer, Thirty-three Girls in search of the white Butterfly (1958) by Max Ernst, and Street in New York with Moon (1925) by Georgia O’Keeffe. On the same day at 3.30pm (and on Friday 8 March at 5pm) visitors can enjoy talks given by the Museum’s volunteers on the exhibition <exchanging gazes> 5: Interior Scenes. Women and Daily Life. Finally, every day from 4 to 8 March groups of visitors can request a guided tour led by members of the Education team on the route around the collection entitled Women’s Viewpoints in the Museo Thyssen.
