To mark the 550th anniversary of the death of Rogier van der Weyden, the Museum is presenting a special display in Room 3, focusing on the artist’s painting of The Virgin and Child enthroned. In addition to explanatory texts that analyse the work’s symbolism, there are also photographs and a magnifying glass which visitors can use in order to fully appreciate the details in the painting and the virtuosity of this Flemish master’s technique.
