Time Map

Mapa del Tiempo

The Time Map offers you an original way of accessing all the works in the Museum through a chronological search. The eight centuries covered by the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections (13th to 20th centuries) are represented with their corresponding decades as circles while the years are arranged radially. By selecting a century you can find out if the Museum has works from a specific year: the darker the dot the more works there are from that year in the Collection. By clicking on the dot you will access the works from that year and their corresponding descriptions.

This application is part of a collaborative project between Samsung and the Fundación Thyssen-Bornemisza that is improving the Museum’s signage. It has also involved installing interactive screens, which have been in place since 2011 at the entrance to galleries 1, 22, and 41 and on the staircase between the first and second floors of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. Visitors can access works not just through the Time Map but also using a map of the galleries or by searching for them via the artists. In addition, there is a brief description of each work and the biography of the artist. The remarkably high quality of the images allows users to see details not visible to the naked eye.

This application requires Adobe Flash Player and is thus not optimised for all mobile devices.
