Our commitment to accessibility

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum believes that technical advances and new technologies should be used as opportunities to integrate all persons and guarantee equal access to information. The museothyssen.org website has been developed according to the following criteria designed to facilitate such access.

Compatibility with standards

This website has been designed and programmed according to the guidelines contained in the Web Accessibility Initiative, http://www.w3.org/WAI/, which sets out international standards for the creation of web contents that are accessible to everyone.

Accessibility guidelines

The following measures have been taken to guarantee access to this website:

A logical order in the presentation of the elements on screen.
A simplified browsing system with no drop-down menus.
Descriptive texts for images.
Keyboard access to the main options.

Access to contents via key combinations

Most browsers permit users to access website contents by pressing a combination of keys. These combinations vary according to the operating system you are using.

Windows: press Alt + access key. If you use Internet Explorer, you will need to press Alt + access key + Enter
Mac: crtl / + access key

Flexible design

The page layout has been altered to enable users to adapt the text as well as the entire site to the desired display size. You can enlarge or reduce the presentation size as follows:

Via the keyboard: On Internet Explorer: press crtl / and use the mouse wheel. On Mozilla Firefox: press crtl / + the ‘+’ key to enlarge. Press crtl / + the ‘-’ key to reduce.
Via the browser menu: ‘View’ menu, ‘Text Size’ submenu.

Links

Most of the links whose text does not provide a complete description of the target have “title” attributes with a clarification.

There are no JavaScript pseudo-links: all the links can be accessed from any browser, even when JavaScript is disabled.

Visitor information

- Summer opening hours
- Until 15th September 2013 our temporary exhibitions are open from 10.00 to 22.00 on Tuesdays – Saturdays and 10.00 to 19.00 on Sundays and Mondays. Last entry is one hour before closing.
