The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation authorises the use of images on the website for private use or educational purposes, subject to the terms of use.

Use for educational purposes is defined as the non-commercial use of images for presentations, lectures, school or university projects, and academic or research publications of which no more than 1,000 not-for-profit copies are printed. Inquiries regarding other uses should be directed to the Picture Library.

Terms of use

1. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation shall not be held liable for any third-party use of images on the website that fails to comply with these terms of use.
2. If the image is used for reproduction, the work must be reproduced in full. Users may only reproduce a detail or cropped section of the work after obtaining written permission from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation. In such cases, the image credits must clearly indicate the word “detail”.
3. The image may not be manipulated in any way. The reproduction may not be superimposed with images, print or any other elements.
4. Permission to use the image is granted solely for private use or educational purposes. Use for educational purposes is defined as the non-commercial use of images for presentations, lectures, school or university projects, and academic or research publications of which no more than 1,000 not-for-profit copies are printed. Images may not be reproduced without first obtaining a licence from the author of the work or his/her copyright manager (see paragraph 6).
5. Any use other than those described in paragraph 4 of these terms requires the prior written permission of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation.
6. The image of the work which the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation has made available free-of-charge for the purposes described in paragraph 4 is protected by copyright. This material may not be reproduced without first obtaining a licence from the author of the work or corresponding copyright manager. Any previously licensed reproduction, whether in part or in whole, of the copyrighted works must be accompanied by the following text: COPYRIGHT © Name of Artist, place and year of reproduction. Provenance: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.
7. If the image is used for reproduction, the user shall send two free copies of the publication to the Rights and Reproductions Department of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation. Departamento de Derechos de Reproducción, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Paseo del Prado, 8. 28014 Madrid, Spain.
8. The user undertakes to use the image from the website solely and exclusively in the manner and for the purposes described in paragraph 4 and in accordance with these terms. This material may not be used for commercial or advertising purposes without prior authorisation from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation.
