Private visit for Friends to "Rauschenberg. Express"

12/11/2006 - 12/11/2006

Following the opening of every exhibition at the Museum, Friends are offered a private visit in small groups accompanied by an art historian who explains the most interesting aspects of the display. The next date is 12 November and focuses on number 20 in the “Contexts of the Permanent Collection” series, entitled Rauschenberg. Express. This is the first exhibition organised by the Museum to deal with the work of a living artist. The American artist Robert Rauschenberg has been one of the most influential figures for the work of young artists in the last decades of the 20th century, and his painting Express, dating from 1963, is among the most important within the series of serigraph paintings created at that period. These works mark Rauschenberg’s progress towards his mature style in which he combined figurative representation and abstract Action Painting.
