He mainly excelled as a portrait painter, acquiring a reputation that even took him to the Court of Francis I of France and very probably to that of England where he would paint Henry VII. He also painted works with religious subject matter, where Renaissance architectural elements can be seen, which makes us suspect that he visited Italy where he would imbibe Classicism.
