Born in Bolshie Gorki, he began his training in Kiev and, later, in Warsaw, and completed it in Moscow. Related to the Russian avant-garde movements, from 1915 onwards he joined Malevich's Suprematism. During the revolutionary process he held important posts in the field of the arts and dedicated himself to teaching. He was very active as a theoretician of Suprematism.
