We have little information about the life of Baegert except documents showing that he had an active studio with his son Jan in which he worked on numerous commissions for various German cities. His style, very similar to Flemish style and in particular that of Van der Weyden and Memling, has made experts believe that he travelled to the Netherlands, but this fact has not yet been proved.
