Now at the end of his life Boudin painted this urban view of Abbeville, which shows the final evolution of his work. Dominated by the darl mass of the church, silhouetted against a luminous sky, the public square, full of figures, allows the painter to use a loose and free brushstroke, paying more attention to the whole than to the details.
