In the work converge Jawlensky's two essential concerns around 1912: the primitive art of the Russian icon, which gives to the image an almost childish and static air, and the influence of the colouring of *Fauvism* which the painter saw at first hand in Paris. The final result is a composition of great chromatic strength and brilliance which strongly attracts us with the intensity that this half refined and half popular image transmits.
