The theme of this work continues the tradition of Germanic religious painting at the beginning of the XVIth century; the Virgin and Saint Joseph, surrounded by numerous angels, adore the Child. The composition of this painting is Renaissance, as can be seen in the balance of the forms and in the architecture, although the Flemish elements are also evident such as the treatment of the cloaks in uneven folds and the landscape in the background with cold tones. From the form of the panel it is deduced that it may have been the central theme of a triptych.
