The Italian influence exerted on Van Cleve is clearly shown in this little panel because of its harmonious colour and the almost secularized feeling of this figure of Jesus, which reminds us close-up of the image of Cupid. It is also reminiscent of classical statues because of the contraposto, the body resting on one of the legs, leaving the other free and thus creating a graceful bending of the figure. The winged image of the world seems iconographically unusual.
