These two panels, equally small in dimension, have been considered by some experts to be from different periods (1504 for the woman and 1520 for the man), however, the idea of their character as a pair has prevailed and, thus, painted in the same period. In them we can see Hans Holbein the Elder's capacity to depict the individual psychology of the models, as well as the careful technique in the creation of volumes through the importance of the light.
