This most beautiful picture is a key piece from the painter's period of greater maturity, when he reaches what his contemporaries called the "vaporous style". Saint Rosalina of Palermo is offering flowers to the Child, received affectionately by the Virgin. At the top some female saints with the martyr's palm accompany the apparition and in the background we can see an urban view with the saint preaching. In a harmonious composition Murillo develops all his skill with a delicate colouring, a light technique and free brushstrokes, creating his characteristic atmospheric feeling.
