A work of great quality and emblematic in Zoppo's production and which we can place between his stay in Bologne and his arrival in Venice, showing the influence of Mantegna. The figure of the hermit saint stands out with sculptural force and precise draughtsmanship against the almost architectonic grouping of the rocks. After the harshness of the foreground extends a soft landscape that serves as a symbolic contrast. The rich range of colours is an essential ingredient of this interesting work.
