Post-Impressionism Post-Impressionism is the name given to the art produced in Paris at the end of the 19th century and in the first years of the 20th century. It is not a movement, exactly, but a series of trends that, in a sense, stem from Impressionist teachings. Symbolism and Neo-impressionism stand out among them, but above all a number of figures in their own right, whose contributions played a crucial role in the development of painting: Gauguin, Van Gogh and Cézanne.
