Trustees
of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation, under
the patronage of His Majesty Don Juan Carlos I, King of
Spain, is a non-profit organisation founded with the purpose
of conserving, studying, exhibiting and publicising the
collections of art displayed at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.
The foundation is directed by a Board of Trustees, which
constitute its highest governing body. There is a maximum
of twelve trustees on the board: four members automatically
become trustees by virtue of their position (or ex-officio
trustees: the Spanish Minister for Culture, who acts as
the President of the Board, and three other officials from
the Ministry of Culture and the Inland Revenue Service);
four members are appointed by the Cabinet via the proclamation
of a Royal Decree (Government Trustees); and four members
are appointed by the Thyssen-Bornemisza family. The Baroness
Thyssen-Bornemisza acts as life-long Vice President.
