PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Solana has worked as an art critic and authored various publications on the history of criticism. Since 2005 he has been artistic director of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, where he has curated Van Gogh: The Last Landscapes (2006), Tears of Eros (2009), Heroines (2011), Antonio López (2011), Pissarro (2012), Cézanne Site/Non-Site (2014), Renoir: Intimacy (2016) and The Magritte Machine (2022), among other exhibitions.
