For the 9th in its series of <exchanging gazes> exhibitions, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is presenting an analysis of the concept of the “unfinished” in painting through fourteen works from the Permanent Collection and the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection.

Structured around the traditional genres of history, landscape and portrait painting, the exhibition features sketchily executed works by both Old Master and modern painters.

Works on show range from oil sketches by Rubens, Tiepolo, Géricault and Delacroix to a plein air study by Matisse and compositions by Manet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Heckel and Kokoschka.
