Through our guided tours on weekends and public holidays you can learn in detail about the life and work of the artists, their influences and motivations, and why they became icons of art.

The series The Thyssen Through the Eyes Of… comprises a series of events that invite museum staff to share their personal tours of the collection with participants. 

What happens when a past does not disappear but we learn not to see it? Colonial Spain remains present on maps, in museums, in cities, in stories and in ways of remembering. The 5th Public History Festival aims to make these traces visible and to question the silences that have hidden, displaced or transformed them.

The visit invites participants to discover the connections between art, nature and culture, and to reflect on the sea as a source of inspiration and a shared heritage that we must understand, value and preserve.

A different Thyssen is an experimental platform within LabThyssen that invites young creators to reinterpret the museum’s collection through contemporary perspectives.

Thyssen Viewpoints is a new activity specially devised for Friends aged 35 to 45 interested in discovering art from other perspectives and in connecting with the collection in a different way.

The writer Daniela Catrileo presents a performative reading that incorporates elements of sound poetry, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the waters as a space for encounter and listening. 

Through listening, historical counternarrative, and performative action, the activities invite you to walk through the exhibition and see it with fresh eyes while reflecting on the connections between territory, identity, and memory.

The museum is offering visitors the chance to discover Dalí’s Freudian Universe with guided tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during normal opening hours.

The fifth edition of the performance cycle by women artists, Vision and presence, is presenting ten new performances devised by Spanish and international artists to be staged in different spaces around the museum.

This in-person activity is designed to introduce Friends to the works in the collection one by one, through an intimate and interactive session held once a month.

The second block of the course Routes around the collection, devoted to exploring the history of art through the museum’s collection, will focus on the artistic movements that arose between the 18th century and the early decades of the 20th century.

Budapest is the new destination for the series Travelling with the painting and Friends are invited to discover this Central European city.

Organismo | Art in Applied Critical Ecologies is an experimental applied research program developed by TBA21–Academy and Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. It weaves together situated investigation, critical theory, and speculative practices through a series of applied case studies developed in alliance with cultural, academic, and civic entities. 

Take a closer look at the works in the collection from the point of view of the museum's restorers and you will learn about the treatments carried out on the paintings as well as some of the secrets and curiosities hidden in a selection of our Masterpieces.

With this virtual guided tour you can travel through seven centuries of art history through fifteen masterpieces and delve deeper into our collection. Narrated by our curators, discover the little stories hidden in the paintings at any time and pause the guided tour whenever you want.
