Tickets for the Museum

There are two different types of ticket: individual tickets (with different prices) and group tickets. Advance purchase allows you to ensure availability. You can do so by internet, at the Museum’s ticket desks or on the phone.
The museum offers group tickets at one standard price for groups of 7 people up to 25 people for the Permanent Collections, and of 7 people up to 20 people for the Temporary Exhibitions. This type of ticket does not permit any individual concessions or free admission.

In order to limit visitor numbers and to ensure that you see the works in comfort, there is 15 minute timed entry slots to the Pop Art Myths exhibition. Please remember that the last entry slot is at 20.45 from Tuesday to Saturday, and 17.45 on Mondays and Sundays. (Average estimated visit time is approximately 1h and 15 minutes.)

a) Online ticket sales

You can purchase individual and group tickets for the Permanent Collections and the Temporary Exhibitions in advance over the Internet.
Individual reduced and free tickets purchased on-line must be collected in the Museum ticket-office set up for this purpose, the same day of the visit. Status proof must be accredited with valid documentation required in each case (check the requirements for reduced and free tickets). Please take into account this step in order to arrive with time enough at the access control when your visit is booked.

b) Ticket Office sales

Tickets can be bought from the Museum ticket office, with Summer opening hours from Tuesday to Saturdays between 10.00 and 21.30 and on Sundays and Mondays it is open from 10.00 until 18.30.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the ticket office.

c) Telephone ticket sales

General, reduced and free tickets can be purchased in advance on telephone (+34) 902 76 05 11 from Monday to Sunday between 9.00 and 20.00.

Types of ticket and fees

The museum offers two different types of admission ticket: individual tickets and group tickets.
There are three different prices individual tickets: standard, reduced or free.
Group admission tickets have one standard admission fee.

Reduced (with valid ID)
  • Over 65's
  • Pensioners
  • Students
  • Youth Card holders
  • Faculty of Fine Arts teachers
  • Members of large families (this status must be accredited)
  • Disabled with 33% rating
Free:
  • Children under twelve years of age accompanied by adults;
  • ICOM Memberships;
  • Citizens who are officially unemployed;
  • Free entry to the Permanent Collections on Mondays between 12.00 and 16.00 thanks to sponsorship by MasterCard.

Tickets for groups ≥ 7:
Groups of seven people or more are eligible for the group admission ticket. This admission ticket does not permit any individual concessions or free admission.

Other ticket types:

Paseo del Arte Card:
This card includes one visit to the Prado National Museum, the Reina Sofia National Museum and Arts Centre and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. It is valid for one year from the date of emission at the ticket office. In the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum it is only valid for the Permanent Collections. General price: €25.60. The Card amounts to a discount of 20% of the ticket prices of the three museums featured. More information here.

Madrid Card:
Includes the visit to the Museum Permanent Collections with priority Access. You may purchase the card at the Museum ticket offices as well as at other points of sale. Valid for one visit and it does not include access to the temporary exhibitions at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Joint Admission Ticket #MadridEsPop:
This ticket does not include access to the permanent collections of the respective museums, nor to other temporary exhibitions running at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. Please keep it for entry into both exhibitions. Once you leave, you may not re-enter them. Please remember with this ticket the entry to Pop Art Myths exhibition (Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza) is organised by timed slots. For more information, click here.

Visitor information

    • Summer Opening Hours
    • Until 14th September 2013 our Temporary Exhibitions are open from 10.00 to 22.00 on Tuesdays – Saturdays and 10.00 to 19.00 on Sundays and Mondays.
      Last entry is one hour and a quarter before closing.
