Christian Winter fue uno de los plateros con más renombre de Augsburgo en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII, en una época en que los diseños de los artistas de la ciudad, y en especial el de sus vajillas de plata, adquirieron gran popularidad. Este servicio de mesa se compone de cincuenta y tres piezas de plata y trece de porcelana. Todos los enseres –fuentes, bandejas, cubiertos, platos, tazas y utensilios de distintos tamaños y capacidades–, se distribuyen ordenadamente en huecos en un suntuoso baúl, con interior forrado de terciopelo granate, y se disponen en dos niveles. La bandeja inferior actúa a modo de cajón. El diseño es homogéneo en todo el conjunto y destaca el rico relieve de los objetos en plata. El servicio de mesa fue adquirido para la colección por Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza en 1976.

Christian Winter was one of the most famous silversmiths of Augsburg in the first half of the 18th century, a period when local artists’ designs enjoyed great popularity, especially their dinner services produced from this precious metal. The service consists of fifty-three silver pieces and thirteen made of porcelain. All the components – serving dishes, trays, cutlery, plates, cups, and utensils of various sizes and capacities – fit neatly into their corresponding spaces in a sumptuous trunk with a burgundy velvet lining, arranged on two levels. The lower shelf acts as a sort of drawer. The design is the same for the whole set and the silver items are notable for their rich relief decoration. The service was acquired for the collection by Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza in 1976.
