September brings a new activity for Friends of the museum: Capsule Courses, which are designed to survey in depth specific aspects of the permanent collection in two or three sessions.

The chosen subject for the first of these courses is one of the genres that is best represented in the museum’s galleries: German portraits. Starting with sixteenth-century court portraits, it will examine in depth the emergence and subsequent consolidation of the new middle class until the tumultuous interwar years and the arrival on the scene of the New Objectivity artists.
