Cautín Lewfü

To coincide with the exhibition Cautín, the artist Seba Calfuqueo uses her body and clothing to narrate in a performance her personal relationship with the Cautín River and her sense of belonging to the territory. As the piece unfolds, blue acrylic paint is airbrushed directly onto the artist's body and a white dress, echoing patterns from the paintings in the exhibition that evoke the depiction of water in Mapuche textiles. The piece is accompanied by an original sound composition by artist Eli Wewentxu, who blends field recordings of the Cautín River with traditional Mapuche instruments such as the violin and the trompe.
