The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and TBA21 invite you to the benefit concert Attuned in the Bantutronic, featuring exclusive performances by Julianknxx, Sir John Akomfrah, and Thabo.
Throughout the evening, guests will be able to make voluntary donations to support the humanitarian missions of UNRWA in Gaza and Doctors Without Borders in Sudan.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the new exhibitions John Akomfrah. Listening All Night to the Rain and Warhol, Pollock, and Other American Spaces.
The live performance, titled Attuned in the Bantutronic, continues Julianknxx's exploration of voice, memory and resilience in a poetic dialogue with Akomfrah’s cinematic and sound worlds. This immersive experience introduces Bantutronic, a genre of artistic practice and a collective founded by Julianknxx, THAB and a community of musicians and vocalists, artists from the Bantu diaspora of Central and Southern Africa who celebrate and expand the richness of their cultural and philosophical traditions.
Inspired by the museum's exhibition, which addresses themes of memory, migration, racial injustice and climate change, the performance highlights the power of sound and listening as ways to connect stories, communities and ideas. By creating a space for reflection and solidarity, the event reaffirms the belief that art can be a powerful agent of empathy, action and transformation.
All donations made at this charity gala are managed by international organisations working directly on the ground, with UNRWA Spain (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) and Doctors Without Borders as partners responsible for coordinating aid in Gaza and Sudan.
