The April edition of the activity Focus on the Work, offered exclusively to Friends, will introduce Winslow Homer’s Portrait of Helena de Kay.

On this occasion Clara Marcellán, curator of Modern Painting, will discuss the key points of this painting in front the work, establishing a dialogue with participants in order to share thoughts, ideas and interpretations on issues such as the sitter’s identity, the history of the painting, the artist’s intentions, and more.

“Who is the woman named in the title of this small painting? What importance did Winslow Homer and Helena de Kay place on it? We look at its history, what it tells us, what it conceals and what we are looking for and projecting when we contemplate it”
