Caravaggio’s magnificent Saint Catherine of Alexandria is the subject of the latest edition of Focus on the work, an activity exclusively for Friends in which every month a major work in the collection is explained by a member of the museum’s curatorial team.

In this presencial activity taking place in Room 12, devoted to 17th-century Baroque art, Mar Borobia, head of the department of Old Master Painting, will uncover the details of this imposing canvas by Caravaggio and will also summarise the Baroque through works by contemporary artists on display in the same gallery, including Bernini, Ribera, Valentin de Boulogne and Gentileschi.
