A new edition of “Focus on the work” looks at the countryside around Auvers in France where Vincent van Gogh painted from life in 1890. Clara Marcellán, Curator of Modern Painting at the museum, will be offering a detailed analysis of Les Vessenots in Auvers, making reference to the artist’s letters and to previous academic studies of this landscape, which is one of the museum’s masterpieces.

Taking place live in the gallery, in this activity participants will learn about the history of the painting; from the way it was described and valued in the inventories of its previous owners to its dissemination and present-day analysis using new digital resources and platforms.
