Once again this year the museum is taking part in Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM), an initiative of the City Council which aims to promote knowledge of Madrid’s artistic heritage and the candidature of the Paseo del Prado and the Retiro Park to obtain the status of UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape.

The museum is thus offering free guided tours on the theme of The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza’s contribution to the Paseo del Prado and its origins, explaining its history and role within this artistic and cultural urban axis.

The tour combines history, social anecdotes and financial information, including an account of the acquisition of Ghirlandaio’s Giovanna, which Baron Thyssen acquired from the banker J. P. Morgan, or the price paid for Family Group in a Landscape by Frans Hals.
