Paris, London, Berlin and New York, four great capitals in the modern era, were the focus of a lecture series given by Guillermo Solana on important works in the Permanent and Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collections. In conjunction with the exhibition Architectural Paintings. Renaissance to Eighteenth Century, which could be seen this autumn of 2012 at the Museum and at the exhibition space of Fundación Caja Madrid, the Museum’s Artistic Director had selected five paintings that represent the image of the modern city through the eyes of great artists such as Camille Pissarro, André Derain, Piet Mondrian, George Grosz and Georgia O’Keeffe.
