In 2021 the journal Science published the paper “The Soundscape of the Anthropocene Ocean”, written by an intentional group of scientists led by Carlos Duarte and including the sound artist Jana Winderen. The paper presents evidence of the impact on marine life of anthropogenic noise, in other words noise produced by humans and by the machines that we make and use.

Within the context of the exhibition Wu Tsang. Of Whales, organised in collaboration with Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21), this paper will provide the starting point for a conversation between its two principal authors in the museum’s Auditorium.
