In conjunction with the exhibition Cézanne site/non-site the Museum organised a monographic course on the artist, a key figure in painting in the second half of the 19th and the early 20th centuries. Entitled Reencounter with Cézanne and directed by Guillermo Solana, curator of the exhibition and Artistic Director of the Museum, the course consisted of lectures given by members of the Museum’s Department of Modern Painting and Restoration Department. The lectures focused on different aspects of Cézanne’s work, including his preference for still lifes and landscapes, his relationship to other Impressionist painters and his status as a forerunner of Cubism.
