Pedagogies of War

To mark International Museum Day, which this year invites reflection on the role of art centres as bridges across cultural, social and geopolitical divides, the museum, in collaboration with TBA21, is organising four free, guided tours of the exhibition Pedagogies of War by Ukrainian artists Roman Khimei and Yarema Malashchuk. 

Marina Avia and Elena Savater, director and head of Exhibitions and Public Programmes at TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, respectively, will lead participants on a tour of the exhibition, comprising four video installations. Making use of fiction as their starting point, these installations explore different ways of representing violence and its consequences in order to show how war alters perception and everyday behaviour.
