The fourth centenary of the birth of Murillo will be taking the Friends of the Museum to his native Seville in a new edition of the Short Visits programme.

During the course of one day in March there will be guided tours of the church of the Caridad, which houses various canvases by the artist; of the exhibition Murillo and the Capuchins of Seville in the Museo de Bellas Artes, which features 24 works commissioned by the Franciscans for the convent of the Capuchins; and of Murillo and his trail in Seville, an exhibition at the Espacio Santa Clara to which the Thyssen has lent the only work by Murillo in its collection, The Virgin and Child with Saint Rose of Viterbo (ca. 1670).
