The latest edition of The Thyssen on the street is offering Friends of the museum the opportunity to enjoy a private guided tour of the exhibition devoted to Raimundo de Madrazo taking place at Fundación MAPFRE.

Having moved permanently to Paris at the age of 20, Madrazo spent most of his career in the French capital and the United States. His work ranges between genre painting and portraiture, and he was particularly noted for exquisitely painted interiors and a brilliant use of colour which made him one of the preferred painters of Parisian and American society.

Organised in conjunction with the Meadows Museum in Dallas, this is the first retrospective in Madrid to be devoted to one of the most important figures in 19th-century Spanish art.
