The sixth edition of the Visits programme will once again be taking Friends to Barcelona, on Monday 25 May, to visit two exhibitions to which the museum has loaned works.

The first, which opens at the MNAC on 14 May, is devoted to the figure of Isidre Nonell, one of the finest Catalan artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a focus on his principal references including Goya, Daumier, Mir and Picasso. Uncle Paquete (1819-20) by Francisco de Goya is to be seen in this exhibition, entitled Nonell, the beauty of stigma.

Secondly, an exhibition at the Caixaforum in Barcelona until 7 June explores the mutual exchange between Surrealist art and outstanding pieces of design of the last 100 years. Objects of desire. Surrealism and design, 1924-2020 includes a work by artist Yves Tanguy from the museum’s permanent collection: Time and Again (1942).
