18 May, International Museum Day, free access.

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Teatro de la Zarzuela are presenting Doña Francisquita, a woman from the Zarzuela, an exhibition that offers an assessment of this lyrical comedy and its influence on Spanish culture and which has been organised to coincide with a new production of the work.

This free-entry exhibition includes various items relating to the work and its principal characters, notably the manuscript score by its composer, Amadeo Vives, dating from 1923; two costumes designed by Franca Squarciapino for the characters of Francisquita and Aurora; and costume designs. Also on display is the original poster for the work, photographs of old productions and a wide-ranging group of related documents loaned from public institutions and private collections.
