Renaissance Venice. The Triumph of Beauty and the Destruction of Painting
The Museum presents an exhibition on 16th-century Venetian painting, featuring masterpieces by artists such as Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese and Lotto, loaned from major collections and museums.
Themes such as the importance of colour, the observation of real life through the image of power and beauty and the destruction of the brushstroke and colour in late works of this period are illustrated through portraits, pastorals, mythological themes and religious compositions, which together reveal the evolution of Venetian painting, created in one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
