Guillermo Solana, the museum’s artistic director, will be giving a series of lectures in May that focus on the Venetian cinquecento. Five works from the Permanent Collection, all painted in the first half of the 16th century and with notable aspects in common, will provide the starting point for a discussion of five leading names from this artistic school: Bellini, Carpaccio, Sebastiano del Piombo, Palma Vecchio and Titian. The series will also be taking an advance look at the museum’s forthcoming exhibition The Renaissance in Venice. The triumph of beauty and the destruction of painting, which opens this June.

Lectures take place on Wednesdays in May at 5pm in the museum’s Auditorium. Free entry: prior booking required, online or by telephone, from the Thursday prior to each lecture.
