This October’s edition of “Focus on the work” offers Friends the opportunity to discover François Boucher’s painting La toilette (1742) in detail, introduced and explained by María Eugenia Alonso, the museum’s the curator of Old Master Painting.

In an activity that takes place in the gallery in which the painting is displayed, Alonso and participants will focus on one of the most important painters of the French Rococo, a movement characterised by its joyful, intimate and sensual treatment of minor themes. Executed during the artist's most productive decade, the painting depicts a young woman dressing in a room surrounded by objects and clothing accessories, providing a glimpse into the interiors of 18th-century French homes.
