2025 at the Thyssen: the most viewed, the most enjoyed
A year to remember
Nearly a million people have visited our galleries, and many more are part of our digital community
THANK YOU!
Top of the year

The most visited exhibition
Warhol, Pollock and other American spaces
You have discovered that Jackson Pollock was not always an “abstract master” and Andy Warhol was not solely an artist preoccupied with banal, mass-market themes!
Our galleries are hosting the work of these two key figures in the 20th century art, two extraordinarily complex figures who were very different in appearance but united, like a whole generation of artists, by their concerns about changes in the pictorial tradition, spatiality and a fascination with large formats.
Haven't you been able to see it yet? Don't worry, we're making it easy for you: you have until 25 January to come to the museum.❤️
Your digital favourite
Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second before Waking, by Salvador Dalí
Did you know that Gala, Salvador Dalí's wife and muse, is the protagonist of the work? That pomegranates are a Christian symbol of fertility and resurrection? Or that the obelisk carried on the elephant's back symbolises the power of the Pope? These and many other curiosities are what our visitors have discovered by visiting our website!

And the favourite in galleries
Untitled (Green on Maroon), by Mark Rothko
One of the leading figures of American abstraction is the author of the most downloaded work in galleries. Did you know that Rothko believed that pure colour was the best way to express emotions? And that after the Second World War, he met Clyfford Still and the two began to explore the possibilities of colour field painting, something that has caught your attention...

The most popular artist
Pablo Picasso
Picasso has been the artist you have consulted most on our website, reflecting your interest in learning about his work, his creative periods and the pieces in the museum's collection.
His figurative beginnings in the Blue and Rose periods, the influence of Iberian sculpture and African art on his work, and his close collaboration with Georges Braque, which gave rise to Cubism... there is so much to learn about the artist who revolutionised 20th century art!
We encourage you to visit the museum galleries or explore the eight works by Pablo Picasso in our collection.
The breakthrough artist
Wassily Kandinsky
The Russian-born painter follows closely behind Picasso: many of you are interested in one of the pioneers of abstract art.
Did you know that he was one of the founders of the Blue Rider movement? And that the painter Gabriele Münter was his artistic and romantic partner until the First World War?❤️
Explore his creative universe through the works in the museum's collection and discover his abstract language and his key contribution to 20th century art.

Your favourite video
Warhol, Pollock and other American spaces
The video of the exhibition, featuring its curator, Estrella de Diego, has become the most viewed on our YouTube channel. Would you like to watch it again? To view it once more as a subversive act?

The podcast with the most listeners
Proust and the Arts
The discussion between Fernando Checa, Francisco Pérez de los Cobos and Guillermo Solana on the aesthetic universe of the French writer was the one you liked the most! With them, you discovered the pictorial, architectural and cultural references that marked his work.

The most popular playlist
Proust and the Arts
Can you imagine what Marcel Proust listened to? Wagner operas, Beethoven pieces and other musical works that shaped his creative universe make up the most listened to playlist on our Spotify profile. A different way to get closer to Proust: press play and discover how music also inspires literature.

Instagram: Rothko ranks number one
Art historian and humorist Miguel Maldonado was certain: it was a very special day... because it was Mark Rothko's birthday! Don't miss everything he told us about the creator of one of the works that most impresses our visitors.

TikTok: still life dominates the top
Still life was a huge hit in the Art from Scratch series on our TikTok profile. In it, we discover one of the most important genres of painting in the 17th century. Although they may sometimes seem like simple displays of wealth or well-being, they conceal much deeper symbolism.

Facebook: Saint Catherine the Traveller
You already know that our paintings travel. But how do they do it? In this post, we show you the round trip of Caravaggio's Saint Catherine of Alexandria from our galleries to the Barberini Corsini Gallerie Nazionali in Rome.
Giovanna Tornabuoni: your favourite sticker
One of our iconic works is a favourite in chats, social media and stories.
Each Thyssen GIF and sticker is a different way to connect with the works in the collection: you can use them to react, to express how you feel or simply to decorate your stories with art.
Search for us as ‘Thyssen’ in your favourite apps and turn your messages into little moving art galleries!

You love the colour💙
Blue is the most searched-for colour on our website. It's a shade that conveys calm, depth and emotion, and it appears time and time again in the works that most pique your curiosity!

Nature
Landscapes, flowers and outdoor scenes top your searches and confirm that Art continues to be a way to connect with nature, pause and look calmly.

And Impressionism
Its landscapes, everyday scenes and play of light show that this artistic movement, so modern in its origins, continues to be one of the great favourites.
