The Naughty Drummer by Nicolas Maes is the chosen work for the March edition of “Focus on the Work”. Mar Borobia, head of the museum’s department of Old Master Painting, will be presenting this canvas painted around 1655, the most important period within this Dutch artist's career. Trained in Rembrandt's studio, Maes was a prominent painter of interior scenes and this composition exemplifies the principal characteristics of his style and techniques.
