Focus on the work: Christ and the Woman of Samaria at the Well by Guercino

Christ and the Woman of Samaria at the Well by Guercino is the focus of the May edition of Focus on the work. This painting from the museum’s permanent collection is currently included in the exhibition Guercino and his Biblical Heroines. 

María Eugenia Alonso, curator of Old Master Paintings at the Museo Thyssen and the exhibition’s curator, will discuss the painting, drawing attention to the creative force, narrative skills and distinctive style of one of the great exponents of the Italian Baroque. This activity offers an ideal opportunity to learn about the artist and discover how he succeeded in depicting subjects popular in the 17th century in an innovative manner.
